June’s Rotary theme, Fellowship, reminds us of something that lies at the very heart of our organization. While Rotary is often recognized for the projects we undertake and the impact we create, it is fellowship that brings us together, sustains our commitment, and transforms service into something far more meaningful.
Fellowship is often where the Rotary journey begins. A conversation at a club meeting, a shared experience at a service project, or a new friendship formed at a district event can create connections that last a lifetime. These relationships strengthen our clubs, deepen our commitment to service, and remind us that we are part of something larger than ourselves.
Our recent District North Atlantic Conference in Shediac, New Brunswick, provided a wonderful example of fellowship in action. Nearly 200 Rotarians, partners, Interactors, Youth Exchange students, and ROTEX members came together under the theme “Unite for Good Times.” While there was certainly time for laughter, friendship, and celebration, the conference also demonstrated the power of bringing people together to learn, grow, and inspire one another.
Throughout the conference, participants explored topics that matter to our communities and our future. We learned about conflict resolution and the importance of building understanding in an increasingly complex world. We gained a deeper appreciation for the vital role saltwater marshes play in protecting our environment and supporting healthy ecosystems. We heard about what a life changing experience Youth Exchange is for our future young leaders. We examined how artificial intelligence can enhance the club experience and help us work more effectively. We also discussed strategies for growing membership and ensuring that Rotary remains vibrant and relevant for future generations.
Equally important were the conversations that took place between sessions, over meals, and at our kitchen party. New friendships were formed, ideas were exchanged, and connections were strengthened among members from every corner of District North Atlantic. These moments of fellowship create the trust and camaraderie that enable us to work together more effectively in service to others.
This is where fellowship and Unite for Good intersect so naturally. Meaningful service begins with meaningful relationships. When people come together around shared values, common goals, and a desire to make a difference, extraordinary things become possible. Fellowship is not separate from service—it is one of the foundations upon which service is built.
As we reflect on this month’s theme, I encourage every Rotarian to continue fostering the spirit of fellowship within your club and throughout our district. Invite someone to join you at a meeting, reconnect with a fellow member, attend a district event, or simply take time to strengthen the relationships that make Rotary special.
Together, through friendship, learning, and service, we continue to Unite for Good—and, as we experienced in Shediac, sometimes for some very good times as well.

At the District Conference in Shediac District Governor Marcel Gervais announced that, following a District-wide nominations process, PDG Darren Hansen of the Rotary Club of Moncton West & Riverview has been named the District North Atlantic (D7815) Representative on the Zone 28 Nominating Committee to select the next RI Director.
Darren will join representatives from 20 district across Zone 28 (Canada, SPM, and border states including Alaska, Washington, Michigan, and parts of Maine and New York) to select the RI Director to represent both Zone 28 and Zone 32 (20 districts from parts of New York, Maine, Pennsylvania, and the New England states plus Bermuda). As part of this committee, PDG Darren will help to select the RI Director to serve July 1, 2028 – 2030.
At the Kitchen Party during the Rotary District 7815 Conference in Shediac, District Governor Marcel announced that Candace Boone of the Rotary Club of Oromocto had been named District Rotarian of the Year. The room responded with a standing ovation in recognition of her outstanding service and impact across North Atlantic Rotary District 7815.
This award recognizes a Rotarian who exemplifies Service Above Self, consistently lives the Four-Way Test, and demonstrates exceptional commitment to Rotary beyond the club level. The recipient is expected to show meaningful involvement in district initiatives, contributing significantly to district goals, projects, and events while also providing leadership, reliability, and dedication to advancing Rotary’s mission.
Candace Boone has served as her Club President, District Learning Chair (4+ years) Area Governor (3 years) Facilitator and Vice Chair Atlantic Division RLI. She has been instrumental in establishing the online and in person PELS and SELS, and provided technical support for online RLI and district training events. She and Holly Thompson are handling the registration and administrative support for the District Conference in Shediac 2026. She is a PHF, a Benefactor and Bequest Society member. In the view of the Committee there was no one nominated who had contributed more to and for the District in 2025-26 than Candace

The club received enthusiastic recognition for its breadth of service and its strong commitment to Rotary’s Action Plan priorities in appreciation of their outstanding work across the district and beyond.
The Rotary Club of Bathurst was recognized for initiatives including:
A strong Bathurst High School Interact Club supporting seniors, food insecurity efforts, and community service projects
Major youth engagement through RYLA, Adventures in Citizenship, scholarships, and leadership programming
Significant community support through food drives, food bank donations, and homelessness outreach
Environmental and community projects including a Rotary community garden, cleanups, and Peace Pole installation
and much more

United for Good Times – Rotary North Atlantic District 7815 was a wonderful celebration of connection, collaboration, and Rotary fellowship. Events like this remind us of the power of coming together to not only to celebrate what we have accomplished, but to build momentum for the work still ahead. United in purpose and driven by service, we continue to create lasting change both locally and globally.

Youth across District 7815 continue to inspire us through leadership, service, and connection. From Youth Exchange and Interact to HIP and RYLA, this month highlights the incredible impact of our young leaders and the Rotarians who support them.
We celebrate the success of our inbound and outbound Youth Exchange students, recognize our first-ever Interact Citation Award recipients, and share exciting opportunities through the HIP Youth-to-Youth Truth and Reconciliation Experience.
We also reflect on two highly successful RYLA events held in Newfoundland and the Maritimes, where youth developed leadership skills, built meaningful connections, and made a difference through service.
These programs continue to shape future leaders across District 7815—and we invite more Rotarians to get involved in supporting these life-changing opportunities.

Promoting Peace, one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus, was woven throughout the recent Unite For Good Times District Conference in Shediac.
The Peace Forum brought together participants for learning, dialogue, and reflection on how Rotary’s commitment to peace can be translated into meaningful action within ourselves, our clubs, and our communities. The conference also featured the unveiling of Shediac’s Peace Pole and an inspiring keynote presentation on conflict resolution by Nabil Oudeh.
The event sparked meaningful conversations, strengthened connections, and reminded us all of the role we can play in building more peaceful communities...
INTERACT STUDENTS IN NOVA SCOTIA ARE REBUILDING HOPE
After the Long Lake Wildfire in West Dalhousie destroyed homes and changed lives forever, families were left with nothing but uncertainty. Instead of looking away, students from Lawrencetown Education Centre Interact Club chose to step up. Through the “Rebuilding Hope” project, these students are building tiny homes for wildfire victims, helping families move out of temporary shelters and back into safe, permanent spaces they can call home. Every donation directly funds materials like lumber, insulation, and windows — the essentials needed to rebuild lives.
This is more than a school project; it’s real students creating real change for their community when it matters most.
A powerful initiative in Nova Scotia is helping West Dalhousie wildfire survivors rebuild their lives — while also creating paid training and job opportunities for local community members.
Participants in the Modular Housing Construction Fundamentals program are gaining hands-on construction experience, industry certifications, apprenticeship hours, and valuable skills while building homes for families impacted by the 2025 Long Lake Wildfire.
So far, three homes have been completed, with three more on the way through partnerships with local organizations and Rotary Clubs of the Annapolis Valley!

Rotary International Convention 2026 in Taipei Concludes with Inspiration and a Renewed Call to Action
The 2026 Rotary International Convention in Taipei brought together more than 30,000 Rotary members, Rotaractors, and guests from over 120 countries for an unforgettable week of connection, learning, and inspiration. Through powerful keynote speakers, impactful breakout sessions, cultural experiences, and countless moments of fellowship, attendees were reminded of Rotary’s incredible global reach and local impact.
From meaningful conversations in the House of Friendship to powerful calls for service, peacebuilding, and membership growth, the convention reinforced what it means to be People of Action. As attendees return home, they carry fresh ideas, renewed energy, and a collective challenge: to turn inspiration into meaningful action in their communities.
