New Rotary Action Group on the Environment Formed

A  new Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group - ESRAG has been formed that may be of interest to many in our district.
 
The Board of Rotary International approved a proposal to establish the Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group (ESRAG) on 23 October 2015.  The purpose of the action group is to "Assist Rotarians in implementing service projects, building awareness, and inspiring action toward environmental sustainability -- particularly reducing greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the global warming humanitarian crisis."
 
As you may know, there are now 25 Rotarian Action Groups (RAGs) established in Rotary which cover a wide-range of critical community issues where Rotary service can make a difference ( rotary.org/actiongroups).  These important groups allow any committed Rotarian around the world to participate in critical, life-changing initiatives that interest them via their Club/District, nationally or internationally. These RAGs are important vehicles to leverage the resources of Rotary effectively in key areas of need.
 
ESRAG was established to help protect and sustain our planet’s environment for present and future generations. Other RAGs (including the RAGs for Population and Development, for Peace, Water and Sanitation, among others) share parts of our Mission.  As  ESRAG evolves it will be partnering closely with other RAGS around shared objectives to multiply our impact.
 
ESRAG will assist Rotarians in implementing service projects, building awareness, and inspiring action toward environmental sustainability. ESRAG will particularly focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the global warming crisis. New content is being added to www.esrag.org constantly including details about exciting new ESRAG initiatives and Club and District projects.
 
Rotary members are encouraged to join ESRAG so they can partner with our large international cohort (700 strong now from 55 countries) of committed and passionate Rotary members to help protect the planet.
