DG's July message

As I begin my term as District Governor, I ask you to reflect on this year’s Rotary International theme “Be a Gift to the World”. What an inclusive and inspiring theme! We all have gifts we can contribute, regardless of our means, position and profession. It’s not only material gifts but gifts of our time and talents that are important. Through Rotary we can use those gifts for service to our communities, our region and around the world.  By the giving of our gifts, we will also get a level of personal satisfaction by knowing that we are helping others in need.

It’s an exciting time in Rotary.  Membership growth in our district has been very positive; we have new clubs and many new projects. There are new tools to help us communicate as Rotarians and be efficient as clubs. We really are on the verge of eliminating polio from the world - an exceptional gift indeed. It’s truly a great time to be a Rotarian.

As Barbara and I start our journey around the district this month we are excited by the opportunity to meet our fellow Rotarians and see firsthand the work of Rotary in your club.  We look forward to sharing with you some of the gifts we have as Rotarians and talking about how together we can do even more. Together let’s make 2015-16 a great year to be a Rotarian.
