Hi Rotarians and Friends:

Further to my previous email regarding the flood and devastation in the Philippines, below are details on our Rotary Club’s Disaster Relief effort.  I hope that you can find it in your heart to participate and share this opportunity with others, to bring some hope and help those in great need.  It does not have to be through my club.  Other options may be are equally good.

Rotary Club of Woodstock-Oxford sets up Philippine Disaster Relief Fund

We’ve seen the devastating news about the Washi Typhoon and resulting disaster that has occurred in the Philippines.

Many people have lost everything and over 1000 are now reported dead, with and estimated 900 people still missing.

These people need our help!  Rotarians and friends can encourage their hope and help them to rebuild their lives.

Imagine drinking this.  No water, food or electricity here.

Devastation when wind and water swept away everything.

We have reports that friends and neighbors are walking knee deep in mud, searching for lost loved ones in their community.

There are first hand reports of no water or electricity and farming crops wiped out, in addition to houses and farm buildings.

In addition to several news sites, you can see the devastation at this Washington Post photo gallery.

Please help these people in desperate need.  There are local Rotarians in the recipient community to oversee the humanitarian aid.

Dr. Grace from Woodstock flew to the Philippines today to help family and friends who have been affected with damage and loss.

In a previous email I told you of her family residing in the area and loss of their farm operation with other neighbors..

We hope that you will consider contributing to this cause, helping share a light of hope into the dark corners of despair that many

are feeling right now.  For more information please contact myself or Peter Stam, our Treasurer  peter@mankar.ca

With appreciation and best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
