Second Call
Deadline is Oct 1st
DISTRICT 7820
Invitation to nominate a Rotarian for the
Position of District Governor
2019-2020
It's time to begin the process to nominate and select a District 7820 Rotarian to be District Governor in the 2019-20 Rotary year. That may seem like a long way off, however I can tell you from experience that the time goes quickly and there are several steps in the years before the successful nominee becomes District Governor.
The leadership group acts as a team and the successful District Governor Nominee Designate (DGND) will immediately be part of the decision making group for the district as soon as this fall. This is really part one of a four year journey with successive one year terms as District Governor Nominee (DGN), District Governor Elect (DGE) and ultimately as District Governor (DG) - each position comes with their own responsibilities, training and experiences.
As those who have been on the path to be a Rotary District Governor (DG) will tell you, it is the experience of a lifetime. The opportunity to serve as DG is something that Rotarians should aspire to. Being part of the District 7820 leadership team and getting to see Rotary in action, both in our district and around the world, is certainly something that will have a lasting impact on you. You will also have a chance to use your own skills and abilities in the larger Service of Rotary.
Each club in our district is invited to nominate a candidate to serve as District Governor for the year 2019-20. Each individual nominated must have consented to accept the nomination on the District Governor Nomination Form and it must be submitted to:
District Nominations Committee Chair, IPDG Jim Goit at jbgoit@gmail.com by October 1th, 2016.
If you meet the eligibility criteria and are interested in the opportunity to serve as District Governor, I encourage you consider applying. Talk to your club executive and let them know you are interested. I'm happy to answer any questions about what to expect on this path. You can also call on other Past District Governors or those currently in the DG stream for advice. There are also some great resources on the Rotary International Website at https://www.rotary.org/myrotary/en/learning-reference/learn-role/governor that will help Rotarians understand the roles and responsibilities of the District Governor.
