Jim Goit
DG 2015-2016
 
Jim grew up on a farm in southern Ontario.  After completing his Masters of Science degree from the University of Guelph, he joined the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture in 1976, retiring in 2012.
 
As a member of the Rotary Club of Truro since 2005, Jim has been active in all avenues of service. He was named Rotarian of the Year in 2008-09; was President of the Club for 2011-12, is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, sustaining member and is a member of the Bequest Society.
 
At the Rotary District level, Jim is a board member of the Atlantic Rotary Leadership Institute and a Group Discussion Leader.  He was founding chair of the District Social Media Committee and has lead the process to get clubs involved with using these communication tools.
 
Jim and his wife Barbara, who is also a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Truro, built their home in Valley, Colchester County. Their two sons and growing families live in Ottawa.
 
In the winter months, Jim can be found on the slopes of Ski Wentworth. As a ski instructor he shares his love of skiing with others.  When there is no snow, he is most often on his bicycle on the roads around Truro.
