Tiana, seen here with one of her friends, is an extreemly qualified applicant to reperesent D7820 as our Peace Scholar.  Tiana holds a Bachelor of Science, Double Major: Psychology and Sociology, Addictions Counseling Diploma with Honors and a Master of Social Work and is currently working as a Treatment Coordinator for Concurrent Disorders-NS,Addiction Services, Department of Health andWellness.

In her application, Tiana stated, "Having lived and worked in Cochambamba, Bolivia for four months, I have experience immersing myself in a culture that is not my own and saw firsthand the damages that civil unrest can cause.  This experience illustrated that the victims of civil turmoil and violence are the women and children.  Having worked in an orphanage there I was faced with the evidence of this fact daily.Children abandoned, parents with infants begging on the streets, men with weapons flying overhead in helicopters.  Again, it is the most vulnerable people within a society who are most negatively impacted by violence and war.  These are the people to whom I am dedicated to work with for the rest of my career.".

PDG Gord Hankin has been appointed Tiana's Rotary mentor during and after her stay in Bangkok and on behalf of District 7820 wishes her a wonderful and rewarding experience.
