Richmond Academy’s Interact Club
Richmond Academy’s Interact Club have been very busy raising money to not only support international foundations but our local communities as well. So far this year they raised money for our local food bank by selling fair trade hot chocolate and coffee during our school’s Christmas Craft fair. During the Christmas ball they raised $860 which was used to help ship a school bus to Cameroon, Africa. This bus will not only pick up students going to one particular school, the driver will also stop and pick up students from other schools until his bus is full. They also raised almost $200 through community and school donations which they gave to West Richmond Education Center. They were purchasing mosquitoes nets through the Spread the Net campaign to help stop the spread of malaria in Africa. And just this week they sold Valentine’s day packages to raise money for CANFAR, a foundation that helps stop the spread of HIV and AIDS. In the next couple of months they will also be planning another big fundraiser in which they hope to raise enough money to purchase not only one but two latrines (aka toilets ... one for boys and one for girls) for an elementary school in a developing country. Please help us make a difference either by support our club, making donations or taking part!
