Each year Rotary, Rotaract, or Interact clubs can earn a Presidential Citation from the Rotary International for achieving goals that strengthen Rotary and their clubs. Activities include growing your membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and building awareness of Rotary in your community. The goals are designed to help clubs achieve a balance in activities.

The Citation is to honor the efforts of the many clubs that have worked hard toward their Rotary goals.

Requirements are a bit different each year, reflecting the change in priorities of the President.  The 2015-16 version included goals around the use of electronic tools, for example, and not surprisingly the process  itself was driven by the on-line Rotary Club Central planning tool.

The Citation was issued in three levels: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The Gold citation recognizes those who met the high bar of all seven goals; silver citations were awarded to those achieving six goals, and Bronze goes to those who have attained five (including, in all cases, the mandatory goals).

There were seven clubs that received the Gold level Citation, two silver and four bronze for a total of thirteen citations.  The usual number for our District is 4 or 5.

The table below shows the clubs and the goals to be met.  Some were very close to the next level. In one case it was only a matter of not submitting achievement of the goals within a few hours of the deadline.  The on-line tools section was the area that seems to have caused the most problem for clubs.

The 2016-2017 Presidential Citation criteria has already been announced and clubs are encouraged to begin early and incorporate their goals and criteria into their own planning.  Not only will clubs get the satisfaction of having achieved a significant award but you will have worked toward fully balancing your club in all avenues of service.

There were also Presidential citations for Rotaract and Interact Clubs presented. Each group had their own set of criteria to meet for membership and service work.  Two Rotaract Clubs and nine Interact Clubs received the citation.  Congratulations to all.
