A Global Grant can be extremely worthwhile for the community it serves in another part of the world. But even successful projects can involve challenges.

These emails from the Befang, Cameroon project to provide a real life example of the challenges a project can face as well as the importance of knowing your host club and having good communication.

REPORT OF ADVANCEMENT OF WORK FOR THE REBUILT OF TWO CLASSROOMS AND CONSERVATION FARMING AT THE PRESBYTERIAN PRIMARY SCHOOL BEFANG
NORTH WEST REGION, CAMEROON ,  CENTRAL AFRICA

This is a heads up regarding the Rotary Club of Truro/District/Global Grant 1530060.  Cameroon

July 4 2017
Today I received this note with pictures from Kumbo, Cameroon where the water part of the project is complete.
You will see how they began high up on the hillside to bring clean water to the village.  This is a very emotional thing for the village people to have clean, safe water on site and not have to spend hours carrying dirty water to their homes.
Phase two
I am also going to send you another email that is Oussematou's report.  You will see that there have been very serious problems in parts of Cameroon related to the French/English problem that surfaced and became
violent.  Oussematou was really concerned.  They had to suspend the project early this year but were able to  resume in early June, hoping to complete the repair of the school by the end of July.
Once the training sessions are completed and the repair of the school is complete, we will be able to finish off.

Yours in Rotary!
Lydia

dear Lydia
Thank you Lydia for this kind memory, this actual work will be same.
Sure the political situation and the violence prevailing in schools needed a very tactful strategy so as not to lose grant sent by Rotary and also to provide good study environment to children. The team is there working hard with all the stake holders to make sure thing moves in peace.
I did not want to make alarm but working with the team in silence to success. Just be patient for few weeks and you will see what I am saying.
For now I stopped sending the rest of the documents and the Engineer will take in to consideration the observation of Ibrahim.
Thank you for the trust Allan and  Lydia. I have kept so far that only God can reach it.
The building is going up every day and the community is working day and night to be sure it succeed.
Oh Lydia hope you kept the pictures of the old buildings as seen in the first video. we have a series of pictures for the construction and community work and so on , fabrication of the school benches and tables and chairs for teachers. It will permit you come up with a video showing before and after as usual. I will be happy to have them for my final report and strongly believe I will never let you down by the grace of Almighthy.
Stay all blessed and healthy.
Matou
