Clubs are invited to suggest eligible Rotarians for the position of District Governor Nominee Designate, “DGND” - the Rotarian who will advance through the District Governor chain of offices to become District Governor for 2020-21.  The Nominee shall assume the title of Governor-Nominee-Designate upon selection and shall assume the title of Governor-Nominee on July 1, 2018. The selection shall be made by Nomination Committee procedure as per RI By-Laws and District Manual of Policies and Procedures, Section 8.
 
To be eligible, the suggested candidate must meet the qualifications specified in Rotary International By-law (“RIB”) 16.070 (COL 2016).  The Duties of a District Governor are specified in Rotary International By-law 16.090 (COL 2016).  Further District Governor information specific to our District is found in the article Continuity, Consistency, Collaboration.  These additional information resources are attached to this invitation.  They will also be available on the District’s home page.
 
A Club shall forward its suggestion to the Nominating Committee using the Rotary International District 7820 District Governor-Nominee Suggestion Form 2017.  This form is attached to this notice and will be available on the home page of the District Website. 
 
Please note the required attachments to the District Governor-Nominee Suggestion Form 2017 that must also be fully completed and submitted:

 
a. A copy of the suggesting club’s resolution adopted at a regular meeting of the club naming the suggested candidate.  The resolution shall be certified by the Club Secretary per RIB 14.020.4. The District's Suggested Form includes a template for this resolution.
 
  b. Rotary International Governor-nominee Form (page 1 of 2) & the Governor-nominee Data Form (page 2 of 2) with the Candidate’s Statement and the Club’s Statement of Candidate’s Qualification completed. This form is available through the District's home page.
 
  c.  Two brief statements from the suggested candidate.  The first will state the candidate’s understanding of four characteristics of a great District Governor and how the candidate measures up to those ideals.  The second will state what the candidate would like to see the District and Clubs in the District improve on as well as why the improvements and innovations should be attempted.
 
Suggestions for DGND must be sent to Immediate Past District Governor Elva Heyge, Chairperson of the Nominating Committee, either by email to elvaheyge@gmail.com or by mail to PO Box 71, Canning, Nova Scotia, B0P 1H0.  As IPDG Elva Heyge will be traveling extensively this Summer please send a copy of the application to District Secretary Garth Gordon either by email to rotarydistrict7820@gmail.com  or by mail to 14 Duncan Avenue, Kentville, Nova Scotia BN 1N4. 
 
 Only suggestions received on or before September 30, 2017 will be considered.
