Are you interested in hummingbirds? Report hummingbirds in your area and assist in a research project based in Ontario but branching out to all Canada.

I recently took the following video of some of our local hummingbirds and it caught the eye of an Ontario researcher, Cindy Cartwright, who was traveling in Eastern Canada to do research.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwRO9pUub3E

She dropped in to meet us and successfully banded 5 hummingbirds. One of her goals is to record the activities of hummingbirds in Canada and get a database on their numbers and range. If you are interested in helping her research, please provide the following information:

1. Your location ( prefer GPS coordinates)

2. Date first hummingbird seen at your location in the spring.

3. Are you using a feeder or flowers. If flowers what kinds attract hummingbirds.

4. If possible count the number of birds seen in a 15 minute period.

5. Any unusual behavior.

6. Date last hummingbird seen in your area in the fall.
