PDG Dorothy and Jim Britten depart for Calgary

On Saturday Oct 1 2011, Dorothy and Jim Britten will be departing Nova Scotia and moving to Calgary, Alberta to be closer to family.

As our District Governor in 2003-2004, Dorothy lead D7820 and became a friendly face throughout the district. You could always expect a wonderful hug whenever she was about.

Jim and Dorothy were both members of the Rotary Club of Dartmouth East and were always available to "Lend a Hand" whenever it was needed.

For me and all who know them it is a bittersweet time as they move to enjoy a new life with their young grandchildren close by. Dorothy was my mentor and over the years leading up to my DG year became a very close friend as we discussed every aspect of being a DG. Subsequently they became very close friends and we met often to enjoy fellowship at it's greatest.

Dorothy and Jim will cetrtainly be missed by many here in Atlantic Canada and I am sure that all Rotarians will agree with me and wish them all the best as they begin a new chapter in their lives. As they travel and get settled in Alberta, they may be reached at jandd@hankin.ca
