District Conference Update:  “Boldly Forward”, and Very Soon

Registration activity for the 2017 District Conference is very busy right now, with only a few weeks remaining until we gather as Rotarians at the Old Orchard Inn in Greenwich, Nova Scotia.  Drawing upon all the Annapolis Valley Clubs for volunteers, District Governor Elva and our Conference Committee are ready to educate, connect, entertain and feed delegates from across our District and beyond.  Please check the Conference website for registration information, and forward questions on anything (we have lists for travel, food allergies, etc.) to conference.registration@outlook.com.

 

Hotel spaces are going quickly, and the Old Orchard Inn staff can assist if you need other accommodation options close by.  Home Hosting spots for Thursday evening are also filling up quickly, and we expect to close off registration for this favourite Conference activity by May 24^th.

 

Breaking Out the Breakouts:  If you click on the Speakers Tab on the Conference Website, you will see biographies about not only our keynote speakers, but the Breakout speakers as well – have a look to see what you can learn by attending these informative sessions.

 

Details on Blues, Brews & Barbeque, Friday evening:  Our informal evening event will be just that, informal, but great for trying new foods, beverages and meeting other Rotarians.  We’ll bus delegates to the Wolfville Farmers Market to sample foods from local favourites, including Meadowbrook Meat Market, The Port Pub, Christiany’s Brasserie (almost spelled that wrong), The Half Acre Café, and Chef David Smart from LaTorta Woodfired Pizza.  Their representatives will be there to explain the offerings, and assist those with food allergies.  Liquid beverages (including some non-alcoholic choices of course) will be available from Lucketts & Blomidon wineries, Sea Level Brewery, Wayfarers Brewery and Good Robot. Music, by the Mark Riley band, will add to the entertainment – and we promise to bus you home to the Old O’ safely afterwards.

Please remember the Youth Silent Auction: We have to confess to encouraging some healthy competition among our Rotary Clubs in terms of bringing something to contribute to the Rotary Youth Programs Silent Auction. 

 

Frieda Burger, fritzi@eastlink.ca is leading the charge for this auction, which raises money to support District Youth programs.  Please bring what you can, Club Presidents and Secretaries.  While on the subject of Youth Programs, we encourage Clubs with Interactors and Rotary Exchangers to register as soon as possible, so we can welcome them to the Conference as well.
