Today, we celebrate two special occasions: Canada Day and the beginning of a new Rotary year.
As we reflect on the communities we call home, we also look ahead to another year of service, fellowship, and making a difference across Atlantic Canada and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
It is also our pleasure to introduce our new District Governor, Chris Hornberger, who officially begins her year of service today.

Over the coming months, she looks forward to visiting clubs, learning about your projects, and celebrating the incredible impact our members make in their communities every day.

All organizations need good leadership, and Rotary North Atlantic is no different.
Our district of about 75 Rotary and Rotaract clubs and over 1700 members is governed by a board of directors led by a District Governor. The DG role is selected 3 years in advance, and the chosen person goes through three years of training paid by Rotary International and involvement with the district before assuming the role. During the summer and fall of 2026 Rotary North Atlantic will select the District Governor Nominee Designate (DGND) who will serve as DG in Rotary Year 2029-30.
The future District Governor will work collaboratively with the other members of the DG Line and the other district leaders to help build and strengthen our district and, above all else, to help clubs in our district to thrive.
Now is the time for you or a great Rotarian that you know to start finding out more about the challenging and rewarding DG role. Why not reach out to a Past District Governor or other experienced district leader for information about the role or for help in explaining the possibilities to that great Rotarian? The formal call for nominations from clubs was issued on July 15th with the deadline to submit nominations by September 18th.

Although summer brings a slower pace for many of our Youth Programs, our committees are anything but idle. Across District 7815, dedicated volunteers continue planning, recruiting, and preparing for another exciting year of leadership, learning, service, and international opportunities for young people.
From welcoming Youth Exchange students from around the world to growing our Interact network, promoting the HIP Youth to Youth Truth and Reconciliation program, and planning for another successful year of RYLA, there is plenty happening behind the scenes. These programs continue to make a lasting impact by helping youth build confidence, develop leadership skills, create lifelong friendships, and become engaged members of their communities.

The Learning Center will soon introduce new badges that align with Rotary’s Action Plan priorities. While the previous badges are no longer available, all points and badges you’ve already earned will remain on your profile.
Clubs are required to complete the Grant Management Seminar before applying for a global grant. To maintain eligibility, clubs must complete the Grant Management Recertification learning plan each year.
Did you know your club's event could be featured in Rotary magazine? Clubs are invited to submit upcoming events for consideration in the magazine's calendar section.
To be considered for the print edition, email your event details to magazine@rotary.org with "Calendar" in the subject line. Submissions must be received at least five months before your event.
It's a great opportunity to showcase your club, attract participants, and share your impact with Rotarians around the world!

Celebrate International Day of Peace – Ideas for Your Club
Rotary believes that when people work to create peace in their communities, those efforts can have a global effect.
On 21 September, Rotarians around the globe will mark the International Day of Peace, celebrating the everyday actions that bring people together, foster understanding, and build stronger, more resilient communities. Peace is one of Rotary's seven Areas of Focus, and it is woven into everything we do. Through service projects, peace education, scholarships, and strategic partnerships, Rotary members help address the root causes of conflict—from poverty and discrimination to limited access to education and unequal opportunities. Every project, every conversation, and every act of service have the potential to create lasting change.

Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger.
We expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future. An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation — all of which can be prevented.
How Rotary makes help happen...
Rotary provides education, immunizations, birth kits, and mobile health clinics. Women are taught how to prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and how to protect themselves and their children from disease.
