What if you could participate in a full day professional leadership session on “Transformational leadership in times of change” by someone who trains MBA students and business executives and not for profit leaders on programs costing thousands of dollars - and attend for FREE or for the cost of a nice lunch?

Well, as a Rotarian from District 7820, you have that opportunity!!

On Thursday, May 24th, the day before the District Conference begins, the Professional Development Day (PDD) takes place at the beautiful Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre in Conception Bay South. If you are an incoming President or Secretary the PDD is FREE (includes lunch and transportation to and from the Holiday Inn in St. John's). All other Rotarians may register for a low price of $35! You will even get a certificate of completion to give your employer to get the day off as professional development.

The PDD will build on the training at the Training For Leaders of Clubs (TLC) but you don't have to have attended the TLC to participate. You can attend the PDD on its own or attend it in conjunction with the District Conference. You choose! Go to the District Conference site for more details and to register. http://7820conference.com

The purpose of the PDD is to build your leadership capabilities to navigate the fast paced world we live in; where change is constant. During this interactive session we will focus on how to be a catalyst and architect upon encountering opportunities and challenges during change. You will learn to leverage and unlock your inherent leadership competencies to elevate you to the next level of change management mastery.

You will:

  • Develop innovative solutions that get real results at work.
  •  Build personal resilience and agility to develop relationships that work, and foster the support required to create the necessary changes.
The workshop leader is Margaret C. McKee, an Associate Professor in the Management Department and the Director of the Sobey MBA Program of the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is also the Academic Director of the Institute of Corporate Directors/Rotman Directors Education Program (DEP), a 12-day intensive executive development program for business and community leaders serving as directors for corporations, not-for-profit organizations, and agencies, boards and crown corporations.

Drawing on her professional experience and PhD in Management, Margaret’s teaching and research is focused on corporate social responsibility, organizational culture, and responsible leadership. In the leadership area, her focus has been on studying the effects of leadership training initiatives on the well-being of leaders and their employees. Margaret has presented and published numerous papers on her research in Canada, the US and Europe.

Transportation to and from the Holiday Inn to the Centre will be provided (check your conference program for departure time).  Cost is $35.00 for those NOT registering as a President or Secretary Elect and must be paid with your conference registration.  The cost includes lunch.  Go to the District Conference site to register. http://7820conference.com.

See you at the Professional Development Day!!
