(Sincerest apologies, August's edition of the DG Roadshow was missing a few photos and important captions. I am reposting this article so that proper recognition is given to the clubs and people involved.)
DG Roadshow: Marcel on the Move!
Geoff and Marcel returned from a club visit in Labrador City, where they met with the President of the Rotary Club of Gander and joined the year-end handover BBQ for the Exploits club. Highlights also included a stop at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum, where Marcel was joined by President Leslie Keough.
Marcel also visited clubs in St. John’s — including Avalon Northeast and St. John’s Northwest — where he officially kicked off the 2025–26 Rotary year. On July 8, DG Marcel spoke at the Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest luncheon at the Sheraton Hotel, sharing his strategic vision for the year ahead. The meeting included two special recognitions: Dorothy Sullivan received a Paul Harris Fellowship pin for her outstanding contributions, and Larry Pittman, President of St. John’s Northwest, was recognized with a 20-Year Service Pin. The event wrapped up with a round of golf, symbolizing camaraderie, fun, and a spirited start to the Rotary year. Marcel also attended the District Governor changeover ceremony hosted by Avalon Northeast, marking the official launch of his term.
Along the way, clubs and members have been showcasing Rotary’s spirit of fellowship and service. In Moncton, AG Sherry Trenholme, Noel Eustace, and John Grantham proudly represented Rotary at the Pride Parade, while Helen Tucker and Bill Evans hosted a lively corn boil, mirrored by RC Sackville’s annual Mount A Corn Boil. In PEI, RC Montague, led by President George Koke and members including Jim MacPhee, advanced several initiatives including their Kingswood Centre project, and RC Charlottetown Royalty supported families through the Children’s Lunch Program. RC Grand Manan celebrated member contributions with Paul Harris Fellow recognitions, and the MW&R Charity Golf brought together Michael Lavigne, Steve Beyea, and Sean Greene in support of a charitable fundraiser.
Meanwhile, RC Summerside continued its legacy of service with projects at the Inspire Learning Centre and Rotary Friendship Park, under the leadership of President Keith Tanton. These events highlight the energy, dedication, and creativity of clubs across the District, all working to strengthen communities and make meaningful impacts!
And he’s not done yet — with more visits to come, the Roadshow is underway!
