Elva Heyge

A native of Nova Scotia, Elva was born in the Annapolis Valley and graduated from Acadia University with a degree in Chemistry in 1965. She pursued her science career, first at Alcan in northern Quebec, and then at McGill University in Montreal. In 1981 she returned to Nova Scotia to study at Dalhousie University and graduated in 1983 with an MBA in finance. For the second half of her career, Elva worked with the federal government as an administrator of federal real estate in the Atlantic Provinces, and lived for a period of time in each of the Atlantic Provinces, except PEI.
 
Elva joined Rotary in 1999, and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Kentville since that time. She served her club in most positions, including president in 2005-06. Elva began her district involvement 2006-07, serving as assistant governor for western Nova Scotia, as District Grants Chair and finally as District Foundation Chair.
 
Elva’s passion in Rotary involves the promotion of international understanding and good will. To this end she has been involved in leading international projects for a number of years and has taken part in several Rotary Friendship Exchanges.
