Gord Hankin
DG 2004-05
 
Gord was born and raised in Montreal.  His career choices took him to Whitehorse, Yukon where he met Dale and convinced her to marry him. Then off they went to Northern Alberta and after a number of years moved on again to Pictou County, Nova Scotia where they own and operate a small home heating oil supply business retiring in 2010.
 
Gord is a past member of the Rotary Club of Stellarton  and the Rotary Club of Pictou. He has participated in all areas of club activities and was President in 1996-97. He is currently with the Rotary E-club of Atlantic Canada, a Club he helped to form.
 
Gord has attended 19 of the past 20 District Conferences, was Assistant Governor from 1999 to 2002 and Centennial District Governor in 2004-2005. He is a member of the International Computer Users Fellowship of Rotarians and served as a Director of that Fellowship for 4 years and attended ICUFR conferences in Chicago, Atlanta, the U.K. and organized a successful conference in Halifax in 2001. Through the ICUFR, Dale and Gord have made many Rotary friends from California to Cape Town, South Africa.
 
Gord is a recipient of the Four Avenues of Service Award and is a Major donor of the Rotary Foundation. He and Dale are both Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors and Sustaining Members of the Rotary Foundation.
 
Gord and Dale have two daughters, one son-in-law and two grandsons all living in Dartmouth.
