David N. Muise QC

David was born in Sydney, NS so he could be close to his parents. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Mount Allison University and Dalhousie University Law School. David also holds a Diploma in Municipal Management from Dalhousie and a Diploma in Alternate Dispute resolution from Saint Mary’s.
 
David has practised law in the Sydney area for forty years and currently is associated with Sheldon Nathanson Barristers in their New Waterford office. Interspersed in those years were two forays into politics where he served a term in the Nova Scotia Legislature and a term as Mayor of the CBRM.
 
Rotary came calling in 1975 when David joined the Sydney Rotary Club. He left in 1995 to become a charter member of the Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club which still puts up with him to this day. In 2009-2010 David served as District Governor for District 7820. He is still trying to pay off the bills.
David holds a Paul Harris Fellowship +6, is a Foundation Benefactor and Sustaining Member.  He is married to Deborah, is the father of four children and likes to brag about his six grandchildren.           
 
In his spare time David curls regularly, golfs badly, and writes a regular column for the Cape Breton Post. His recent book of short stories, Awake at a Wake, was a successful venture with proceeds going to the Adult Learning Association of Cape Breton County, an organization dedicated to adult literacy.
